Who Are We

Grey Face Rescue & Retirement is a 501(c)3 non-profit, foster-based senior dog rescue providing quality care and love when the norm becomes unfamiliar. We strive to raise awareness of the joys and challenges of living with aging animals. While never forgetting where these animals have come from, we emphasize the positive aspects of their life in retirement. We do not concern ourselves with the quantity of time that they have left, rather the quality of the life that we can provide them for that time.

Grey Face Rescue & Retirement focuses on dogs age 7 and older. We accept all seniors into our rescue and hospice care. We don't discriminate against specific breeds, medical conditions, behaviors or history – we believe all senior dogs deserve a second chance. Our volunteers work tirelessly to match each of our seniors with a specific foster for their continued care. We also seek special and educated adopters to give our seniors their forever homes. We're a 100% volunteer-run organization and rely heavily on our dedicated volunteers and fosters to help keep our organization running, as well as on generous support and donations from the community.

Grey Face Rescue & Retirement is dedicated to the following goals:

  • Rescuing stray and relinquished senior animals from animal shelters that have not been adopted and are scheduled to be euthanized. GFR&R takes the animals that are considered “too old” for traditional shelters and provides them with a chance at a forever retirement home, either with a new loving family, or through our Hospice Program.
  • Securing a no-kill foster-based program where rescued senior dogs can be safely sheltered without the threat of euthanization until adoptive families are found for them, or where they may live out their days surrounded by the best care and love at GFR&R.
  • Providing veterinary care to neglected, abused and injured senior dogs.
  • Promoting the benefit of adopting older pets, and educating the public on the care of senior dogs.
  • Educating children and adults alike on responsible pet guardianship.
  • Creating an alliance with local shelters and animal rescues to improve the adoption rate of senior pets.

Grey Face Rescue & Retirement is a 100% non-profit, organization dedicated to the rescue and rehoming of senior dogs. Grey Face Rescue & Retirement is run by like-minded professionals who volunteer their time and resources to help save the lives of these senior dogs.
